Sorry the original is a bit small to read.

Cartoon tea towels

Good news! Two of my cartoons are now available in tea towel form from Canterbury Press. I’ve posted images of the two cartoons, ‘The church kitchen’ and ‘The discernment process – how to be selected as a member of the clergy’, below. The tea towels are £5.99 each and are available from Church House Bookshop at the following links:

They are also available at Church House Bookshop at 31 Great Smith Street, London, SW1P 3BN – directions here. I would telephone first (020 7799 4064) if travelling specially though.

You can find all of my Canterbury Press books, t-shirts, cards, and now tea towels on their Dave Walker page.

[Minor note: the second image looks lighter than the first here. It isn’t on the tea towel itself.]

This week's cartoons

awkward pastoral visits

The blog hasn’t quite kept up with the posting of cartoons in recent days, so here are the three I added to the site this week (above and below). These are the final three of a batch I have been posting from ‘The exciting world of churchgoing‘. You can find the high resolution versions as follows:

I will be back in a few days with some more church cartoons. I think it might be time for some from the new book, and I’m also planning a roundup of my Christmas material for those planning Christmas service sheets, etc (in summary – see here, but I have another to add). [Read more…]

Cartoon: Stoles

stoles

Today’s cartoon is entitled ‘Stoles’ – see the page high resolution version for republishing here. It is another from the last but one book, ‘The Exciting World of Churchgoing’. I’d make a subtle comment about how good books are are presents, but I’ve done that too many times and it’ll become tedious.

In other news: slight whirlwind happening in other areas of my cartooning life at the moment. See the Cycling Cartoons Facebook page for a clue.

Cartoon: Ordination

Hello everyone. Another cartoon after a few days break. We were in Exeter – let me know if you want to see my holiday photos of a car park.

Today’s cartoon is entitled ‘Ordination’. Click here for the high resolution version for reuse. Once again this one can be found in the book The Exciting World of Churchgoing.

As far as ordination goes I have no particular wisdom. But here’s a short paragraph on non-ordination from an interview with Ronald Blythe in tomorrow’s Church Times. I quite liked it.

But he resists ordination himself. A Dean of St Paul’s, Alan Webster, tried to persuade him to become a priest, as did a Bishop of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich, Leslie Brown. “I couldn’t get them to understand that it wasn’t my role,” he says. “I actually think the laity is enormously important. The laity means the people of God.”
