About

dave-with-cats

Hello. I'm Dave and I draw diagrams.

By diagrams I mean cartoons, really, but I often do them with additional annotation.

Welcome to my website and Cartoon Blog, the main place where I post my latest work.

I live with my wife, who we'll call CW, in Langdon Hills, which is to the east of London. I've been a freelance cartoonist since 2005. My specialist subjects are cycling cartoons and church cartoons, though I do drawings about lots of other subjects too. 99% of my work is in black and white as I am inept at colouring-in on the computer.

I draw a weekly cartoon for the Church Times newspaper. Five books of these cartoons have been published, along with a colouring book.

I spent much of 2016 working on a book of cycling cartoons, 'The Cycling Cartoonist', which was published by Bloomsbury in June 2017

I'm a member of the Professional Cartoonists' Organisation, an association for UK professional cartoonists.

I take on commissions, book illustration projects, etc, if I think I will be able to do them well. People like visual things, and they like humour, so cartoons are quite a good way to communicate in the modern age. Please do get in touch if you think there might be something I can do to help you or your organisation get your message across.

If you're interested in church cartoons my CartoonChurch.com site is the place to find lots of my cartoons. You can buy a licence at a highly-discounted rate to use the cartoons in your church publications too. Follow the CartoonChurch Facebook page too for regular updates.

If cycling cartoons are more your thing try CyclingCartoons.com and look out for the book when it comes out in June 2017. Once again there is a Facebook page where the latest updates are posted. I have drawn cycling cartoons for the action sports website Mpora, along with Cycling Weekly, Cycling UK (CTC), road.cc, and others.

Updates on my work:

The main places I write on the internet are here on my blog and on Twitter, so follow me in one of those places to keep up to date with what I'm up to.

Get blog posts by email:

If you'd like to get my cartoons by email then just put your email address in this box. You'll need to confirm the subscription via an email that will be sent to you, but it should all be very straightforward. Click here if you don't see a box.
